C. H. Patton received a telegram from Rep. F. G. Blood
this afternoon announcing that the bill to consolidate
the Supreme Court at Ottawa, has passed the lower house
of the general assembly after a hard fight.
Capt. Frank Havill received a dispatch from the Post -
Dispatch this afternoon announcing that Fitzsimmons whipped
Corbett in the fight at Carson, Nev. today in the 12th round.

At the morning services at the Christian church Sunday,
Elder J. H. Stambaugh, the able and popular pastor, surprised
the congregation by handing in his resignation.
Otto Wallace has the material on the ground for the erection
of a handsome new home where his present residence now stands.

Hundreds of mature and the same number of boy farmers were
attracted to Mt. Vernon today by the Calf-Day program.
Mt. Vernon has the opportunity to secure large benefits from
the pending sixty million doaller hard road proposition which
is now before the legislature, if the citizens will but interest
themselves in the proposition.

Mrs. Margaret Edmondson, colored, age 122 years, died yesterday
at the home of her son, 2600 South Twelfth street.

Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Scott of the vicinity of Marlow are today
observing their 63rd wedding anniversary.
Howard Ross, coach of the Mt. Vernon basketball team, accompanied
by the members of the team has gone to St. Louis where they will
enter the Mississippi Valley tournament.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. George Reeder spent
yesterday in Chester and were interested visitors at the big house.
Mrs. J. Cyril Begg was the victim of a fall at the family home yesterday
afternoon which severly injured her and necessitated the care of a nurse
as well as a physician.

The cororner's jury in the death of Martin Pokorney, Scheller farmer,
returned a verdict of suicide about 4:30 yesterday afternoon after
hearing the testimony of 20 witnesses in the inquest conducted by
State's Attorney Geo. Howard.
The International Shoe Co. announces today that it is making additional
increases in the wage rates paid in its manufacturing plants to become
effective March 15, and will amount to not less than 5 per cent.
