Christopher C. Bravard
Christopher C. Bravard, b. 1826 in Bracken Co. Ky., died 1876 in
Jefferson Co. and is buried at Knob Prairie Cemetery along with his
wife Rachel Martha Thomas 1829-1899, also born in Ky. The daughter of
William Thomas and Elizabeth Mannen who came to Jefferson in early 1860's and
settled near Utah School in Elk Prairie Twp. Elizabeth was a sister to
Sidney S. Mannen (see this family). Their children were: Laura Ann
1850-1933, b. Ky.; Eliza Belle 1861-1893; Mary Catherine (Kate)
1855-1931; James T. 1856-1889; Sidney 1857-1898; and Martha Luella
1865-1907.
Laura Ann, married 1st in 1872, John Wells b. 1849 in Bracken Co. Ky.,
the son of Amos and Nancy Redden Wells (see this family) and had Dr.
James W., Bertha (Homer) Eater, and Annie Belle (Jerome S.) Mannen. She
married 2nd James W. McAtee, the husband of her deceased sister Eliza
Belle, whose children were Dr. Wm. Nelson, Dr. James Roy, Walter, and
Edward.
Mary Katherine married Joseph Hicks in 1877 and had Vesta, Lawrence,
Velma, Earl, Vona, and Irlene (Elmer) Slater.
James T. married Lucy Elvira Adams and had: Laura Jane (James Monroe)
Roberts; Charles married Etta Laswell and had Walter, Guy (the father
of Ray, Imogene, and Sharon), and Nelson; John Walter married Dell Masters
and had Annie (Dyer) Jones, Vernor, Alfred Dale, Donald, and Bernell
(Buck); Dan married Bessie _____ , and was a W.W. # I Veteran; Susan
married Wesley Hubbard; Martha; and Dora.
Sidney married Eliza Peterson, dau. of James and Nancy Bowman Peterson,
and had Nelson, Charles, and James.
Martha Luella, married Elijah Fred and had Vernor who married Annie
Newberry, Annie lives at Waltonville, and Ina who married Harry
Hamilton, and _____ .
Many of this family are buried at Knob Prairie Cemetery, and many
descendants are still in the county today.
