The Bluford Lake, now privately
owned, is nothing like it was back in the "good ole days". Then we
could go swimming at the dam and dive off the "block". Also, long ago,
there was a pretty good swimming area with sort of a small sandy beach.
To get there you had to drive through Whack Williams property. "Old
Lady" Williams, (not meant as a derogatory term) charged a whole dime
to drive through their property. She had her own private toll road.
Families would go there on hot summer evenings for a swim. As you might
guess, us boys could figure out how to get back to that without going
through the
tollgate.
