Concord Baptist Church

This church was situated in Jefferson County.  It was organized in the later part 
of 1839 or early 1840 under the labors of Elder S. M. WILLIAMS , John BROWNING and 
William R. MOORE.  It came into the Bethel Association United Baptists in 1840

The number of members was 17.  The church grew out of Mt. Pleasant, Franklin County, Il 
and most of the members were converts under these ministers.

The church did good for a while, but in 1841 a division arose.  Elder Robert MOORE was 
the pastor amd he was soon dismissed  Charges were brough him by Elder S. M. WILLIAMS
but  Mt. Pleasant sustained himand the ones led by WILLIAMS withdrew from the Majority. 
They withdrew and declared themselves the orderly Concord Church.
