OLD SETTLER PASSES AWAY 

Mrs Sarah J. BALLARD, Aged 79, Died Yesterday 
Mrs. J. Ballard, one of the old settlers of Jefferson county, 
died yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.E. 
Kniffen, on South Twelfth street. She was 79 years old. 

The body was taken to Hickory Hill church, in McClelland township, 
where funeral services occured this morning at 10 o’clock. 
Mrs. Ballard was a member of the Christian church and has always 
led an exemplary christian life. Besides a host of friends, she 
leaves one son, R.M. Ballard, to mourn her loss.
