Goaley E. HOPKINS, 81, of Belle Rive, died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday
at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at
1:00 p.m. Sunday at the Belle Rive Methodist Church, of which he
was a member, with the Rev. Roscoe GANT officiating. Burial will
be in Flint Cemetery near Belle Rive. The body will lie in state
at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren where friends may call after
4:00 p.m. Saturday.
Mr. HOPKINS was born September 11, 1886, in Jefferson County, the
son of George and Ida (WADE) HOPKINS. On August 27, 1905, he was
married to Mary SURSA, who survives. He is also survived by a son,
Dale HOPKINS of Columbus, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy THRELKELD
of Kankakee, Mrs. Georgia CORLEE of El Reno, Okla., and Mrs. Rosemary
WHISENHUNT of Belle Rive; five grandchildren; two nieces and three nephews.
Mr. HOPKINS was a retired farmer and state employee.
