SAMUEL WILSON DIED EARLY TODAY AT FAMILY HOME Former Succesful Business Man had been in Poor Health Long Time. Funeral Thursday Afternoon. Samuel H. Wilson died this morning at the family home 1002 Jones Street, following a period of ill health which lasted three years or more. Mr. Wilson had been confined to his room and his bed much of the time. His death occurred at 5:45 o’clock. Mr Wilson was 70 years old the 22d of last December. He was a son of the late Robert Wilson and wife, and he was born in Tennessee. He was for many years in the general mercantile business in Ina, and was one of the leading business men of the south part of Jefferson county. He located in Mt. Vernon several years ago, and until his health failed operated a store at Tenth and Jones Streets. He retired from business three or four years ago because of ill health. In the days of his active life he was very successfule in business and was recognized as a man of business acumen and good judgement. He had many friend not only in Ina and the south part of the county, but in Mt. Vernon, and was held in the highest respect by all who knew him. He was a good citizen, and a most useful member of society. He was a member of the Christian church, and took much interest in the work of the church, and held membership in the First Christian Church of this city. He was united in marriage with Mrs. Mary Yearwood December 27, 1926. Mr. Wilson was twice married and is survived by his second wife, three sons and five daughters by his first marriage as follows: Henry of Bonnie, Ray and Tandy Wilson of Mt. Vernon; and Mrs. Alice McCormick, of Benton; Mrs. Joe Beckham and Mrs. Ira Bodine of Bonnie; Mrs. Fred Starkey, Chicago; and Miss Mildred Wilson, Mt. Vernon. Two stepsons survive, viz: Lon Yearwood, Chicago; and Roy Yearwood, Detroit, Mich.; and one sister, Mrs. W. N. Hayse, Ina, survive. Eighteen grandchildren survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at the First Christian Church conducted by the pastor, the Rev. J. F Baxter, at 2 o’clock, and burial will follow in Kirk Cemetery.
