Margaret (Maggie) Anne Gilbert
Margaret (Maggie) Anne Gilbert the daughter of James Gale Gilbert and Rebecca Jane ( Campbell ) Gilbert was born August 15, 1860. She married George Warren Fairchild on Sept 12, 1880 and on May 15, 1881 gave birth to her first child Lola Theresa (Fairchild) Fagan (second photo). In 1883 a second daughter, Drusilla Mae Gilbert was born. Drusilla died in 1961 after having lived in California since 1904. Maggie, who was pregnant with her third child, was killed in a runaway buggy accident up in Long Prairie near the Louie Schmidt Place on October 25, 1885. She had her two children with her at the time the buggy turned over. Maggie is buried in the Old Part of Knob Prairie Cemetery. After the tragic death of their mother, their father married Anna Smith. Here they were reared in the family with brothers; Scott (died in infancy), Charles (died Young), Fred P. (Kicked by a horse and died b.1893 to d.1904), Walter D. (b.1896), Arthur (Jack) Wilgus (b.1898), Willard Smith (b.1902), and sisters; Georgia and Vesta Leota (b.1900, married Arthur Menzel). Lola Theresa Fairchild
Lola Theresa Fairchild, the daughter of George Warren Fairchild and Margaret Anne (Gilbert) Fairchild, was born May 15, 1881. She married Joseph Thomas Fagan on May 16, 1899 in Nashville , IL . They made their home in the same community all their lives. In 1911, they moved into their own home only a short distance from where they had begun housekeeping, about halfway between Waltonville and Scheller in Bald Hill Township . They were the parents of seven children: Beulah, Maggie, Charles, Elva May, Annabel, John, and George. The children attended school at Scheller and some attended High School in Waltonville. The Fagans lived in the same home until each’s death, hers on August 29, 1933 and his, August 5, 1966. Both are buried at Knob Prairie Cemetery , north of Waltonville. Lee Dees with his section gang
This is my GGG Uncle Lee Dees with his section gang. He is standing in the front row left sporting a fine handle bar mustache. Lee’s sister Sarah L. Dees and William Adam (W.A.) Bean are my GG Grandparents. They were married in 1878. The original photo is rather faded and had to be enhanced. Estimated date of picture 1890's
