Know all men by these presents that we Henry B. Maxey, James Johnson, &
William Maxey & Garrison Greenwood are held and firmly bound unto the
people of the State of Illinois in the sum of two thousand dollars for
the payment whereof will and truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs
executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents
sealed with our seals and dated this fifth day of September in the year of
our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and twenty.
The condition of the above obligation is such that if the above
bounden Henry B. Maxey and James Johnson administrators of all and singular
the goods chattels and credits of Rhody Allen deceased, do make or cause to
be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods, chattels,
and credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to the hands possession
or knowledge of them the said Henry B. Maxey & James Johnson or unto the hands
and possession of any person or persons for them and the same so made to exhibit
or cause to be exhibited in the county commissioners court of Jefferson County
at or before the fifteenth day of September instant and the same goods chattels
and credits and all other goods chattels and credits of the said deceased at the
time of his death, which at any time hereafter shall come to the hands or possession
of the said Henry B. Maxey & James Johnson or unto the hands of any other person or
persons for them do well and truly administer according to law and further do make
or cause to be made a true and just account of his said administration at or before
the fifth day of September 1821 and all the rest and residue of said goods chattels
and credits which shall be found remaining upon the said administrators account (the
same being first examined and allowed of by the county commissioners court of the
county where the said administration is granted) shall deliver and pay unto said
person or persons respectively, as the said county commissioners in the respective
county by their decree or sentence pursuant to the true intent and meaning of law
shall limit and appoint, and if it shall hereafter appear that any last will and
testament was made by the said deceased, and the executor or executors therein named
do exhibit the same unto the said court making request to have it allowed and approved
accordingly, if the said Henry B. Maxey and James Johnson within bound, being thereunto
required, render and deliver the said letters of administration, approbation of such
testament being first had and made in the said court, then this obligation to be void
and of none effect or else to remain in full force and virtue.

The sale papers are very old and crumbling. Some pieces are missing, but most
of it is readable. The ? indicate part missing or something unreadable.
There are 8 pages of the sale, but no final page for totals, etc., so there could
have been more.
