ESTATE OF ISAAC S. BOSWELL

(April 30, 1906)			PETITION FOR LETTERS OF ADMINISTRATION
Petition of John P. Baker
	In the matter of Isaac S. Boswell, Deceased.	
		For Letters of Administration
To the Honorable Conrad Schul, Judge of the County Court of Jefferson County, 
in the State of Illinois:
	The petition of the undersigned John P. Baker, respectfully represents 
that Isaac S. Boswell late of the County of Jefferson aforesaid, departed this 
life at Almyra, Arkansas, on or about the 6th day of April A. D. 1906, leaving 
no last will and testament as far as your petitioner knows or believes.
	And this petitioner further shows that the said Isaac S. Boswell died, 
seized and possessed of the following real estate, to-wit; Lots One (1) and Two 
(2) in Block Three (3), Sam Casey’s Fifth (5th) Addition to the City of Mt. Vernon, 
Illinois, all of said estate being estimated to be worth about One Thousand Dollars 
($1000.00).  That said deceased left surviving him Azilka Dalby, Alice Davis, John 
Boswell, Florence Black, W. H. Boswell, Mellissa Reynolds, Margaret Kelley, Emma 
Carpenter and Samuel P. Boswell, his children, and Harry, Herbert M., Neil M., Alice, 
Glenn and Margaret Mendenall and Grace Mendenall Baker, children of Mary E. Mendenall, 
deceased, and Eugene M. and Guy Dare, and Maggie Dare Shelton, children of Avaline 
Dare, deceased, his children and grand children as heirs.  That your petitioner 
believing that the said estate should be immediately administered, as well as for the 
proper management of said estate as for the proper collection of the assets, by virtue 
of his right under the Statute, and entering into bond in such sum and with securities, 
as may be approved by your Honor.

LETTERS OF ADMINISTRATION

   The people of the State of Illinois, to al whom these 
Presents shall come –GREETING:
KNOW YE, THAT, WHEREAS Isaac S. Boswell of the County of Jefferson and 
State of Illinois, died intestate, as it is said, on or about the 6th day 
of April A. D. 1906, having at the time of his decease, personal property 
in this State, which may be lost, destroyed or diminished in value, if speedy 
care be not taken of the same.
   To the end, therefore, that the said property may be collected and preserved 
for those who shall appear to have a legal right or interest therein, we do hereby 
appoint John P. Baker of the County of Jefferson and the State of Illinois, 
administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits, 
which were of the said Isaac S. Boswell at the time of his decease; with fill 
power and authority to secure and collect the said property and debts. Wheresoever  
the same may be found in this State, and in general to do and perform all other acts 
which now are, or hereafter may be required of him by law.

ADMINISTRATOR’S OATH

   In County Court April term A. D. 1906.
I do solemnly swear that I will well and truly administer all and singular 
the goods and chattels, rights, credits, and effects of Isaac S. Boswell, 
Deceased, and pay all just claims and charges against his estate so far as 
his goods, chattels and effects shall extend, and the law charge me; and that 
I will do and perform all other acts required of me by law, to the best of my 
knowledge and abilities.

ADMINISTRATOR’S BOND

Know all men by their presents, that we, John P. Baker, Kirby Smith 
and E. M. Peavler of the County of Jefferson, and State of Illinois, 
are held and firmly bound unto the people of the state of Illinois in 
the penal sum of Two Thousand Dollars current money of the United States, 
which payment well and truly to be made and performed, we and each of us 
bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, jointly 
severally and firmly by their presents.  
    Witness our hands and seals this 30th day of April A D 1906.  
    The condition of the above obligation is such, that if the said John P. Baker 
Administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits 
of Isaac S. Boswell, deceased, do make, or cause to be made, a true and perfect 
inventory of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of the 
said deceased, which shall come to the hands, possession or knowledge of him the 
said John P. Baker as such administrator or to the hands of any person or persons 
for him and the same so made, do exhibit or cause to be exhibited in the County 
Court for the said County of Jefferson, agreeably to law, and such goods and 
chattels, rights and credits; do well and truly administer according to law, and 
all the rest of the said administrator the same being first examined and allowed 
by the County Court, shall deliver and pay to such person or persons respectively 
as may be legally entitled thereto, and further to make a just and true account of 
all his actings and doings therein, when thereunto required by said Court; and if 
it shall hereafter appear that any last will and testament was made by the deceased, 
and the same be proved in Court, and letters testamentary or of administration be 
obtained thereon, and the said John P. Baker do, in such case, on being required 
thereto, render and deliver  up the letters of administration granted to him as 
aforesaid, and shall in general do and perform all other acts which may at any time 
be required of him by law, then this obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in 
full force and virtue.

Estate of Isaac S. Boswell Deceased.

   The undersigned, having been appointed Administrator of the estate of 
Isaac S. Boswell, late of the County of Jefferson State of Illinois deceased, 
hereby gives notice that he will appear before the County Court of Jefferson 
county, at the County Court House in Mt. Vernon at the September term, on the 
first Monday in September next, at which time all parties having claims against 
said estate are notified and requested to attend for the purpose of having the 
same adjusted, all persons indebted to the said estate are required to make 
immediate payment to the undersigned.

Albert Watson, agent for John J. Golden being duly sworn, on oath says, 
that the annexed account against the estate of Isaac S. Boswell deceased, 
amounting to the sum of three hundred and ninety nine & 50/100 dollars, is
just and unpaid, after allowing all just credits.

Note Enclosed for $350.00 at Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Oct. 27, 1905
Five years after date I promise to pay to the order of John J. Golden for 
value received, three hundred and fifty dollars, with interest from date 
at the rate of seven per centum per annum until paid, payable annually.  
The makers hereby agree to pay a reasonable attorney’s fee if after maturity 
and because of non-payment this note is placed with an attorney for collection, 
same to be included in any judgment that may be taken on this note and sureties 
consent that time of payment may be extended without notice.  
(STAMPED) The right is reserved to pay multiple at any date when interest matures.

Estate of Isaac S. Boswell, Deceased.
   Notice is hereby given that I will, at the August Term of the County Court 
of Jefferson County, Illinois, to be held at the County Court House, in Mt. Vernon, 
in said county, on the First Monday of August 1907, to-wit on the 5th day of said 
month, present a final report of my acts and doings as administrator of said estate, 
and ask to be discharged from further duties and liabilities as such.  At said time 
and place all persons interested are notified to appear and resist said application 
if so desired.
